Khaki has been around years, but while growing up, chances are it was often relegated to ugly school uniforms. Now, khaki can look casual or sophisticated depending on how you pair it with accessories or blouses.

Khaki usually has its place on the fashion runways during the spring collections, and 2012 is no different. Cropped blazers, military style jackets, shorts, shoes and even jewelry are all sporting the khaki color and look. For a fashionable spring and summer, pair khaki with your favorite tops or shoes, since the color goes well with most shades. Khaki is not only a perfect spring and summer look, but changing accessories can take the look into fall and even winter in warmer states. Add color. When you wear too much khaki or pair it with light accessories or clothing, you run the risk of appearing washed out- especially if you have a light skin tone. Khaki and variations of brown always look great paired with colors like red, purple or even orange.

Texture adds an interesting element. While crisp khakis are quintessentially Spring, look for styles that have texture in the fabric like a subtle shimmer or pattern. Khakis that have texture are a perfect way to take a day look into night, especially when paired with a satin-type blouse and heels.
