Trend Alert: Black and Gold

OK, I know there is something slightly trashy about black with gold, but I kinda like it. So shoot me! I particularly love the combination when it comes to shoes. But that’s me. If you want to stand out in a 70′s kind of way this spring, I say channel your inner Charlie’s Angel and subtly sparkle…while still wearing black! Black and gold is perfect for a date, or a night on the town.

Featured prominently on the Spring 2012 runways, most notably in Gucci's collection, the art deco-inspired pairing of black and gold is my current obsession. Luxe, rich, and undeniably glamorous, here are 5 black and gold pieces I'm loving.

While black and gold might be a color combo that’s always on trend for the holiday season, this past Milan Fashion Week saw a few fashion power houses utilize the metallic-meets-monochrome couple in some seriously drool-worthy designs. 

Labels like Roberto Cavalli,Moschino and Gucci sent models down the runway, working the sharp color combo in all sorts of varietiesfrom black and gold colored graphic prints, to metallic-embroidered jackets, pants and skirts.

While the hue duo would probably making any fashion fan reminiscence of the days of Gianni Versace prints from the early 90s, it looks like Donatella did decide to infuse some metallic gold in her Spring RTW 2012 collection, by pairing it up with whites and pastel-colored graphic prints instead of a dead-on black.
