Collar Necklaces... wish list addiction

Embellishment is back (as if it would ever go anywhere). The days of “less is more” for jewelry is disappearing a bit in the latest fashion trends. With exaggerated earrings, arm parties of tons of layered bangles, beads and charm bracelets, and huge cocktail rings back on the scene it’s only right that our neckwear be bigger and better too. I have been wanting some collar necklaces to add to my accessories drawer for quite some time.

What I'm wearing:
Dress and Shoes: Monki
Clutch: Primark
Collar necklace: Zara
Inspired by Chanel: Earrings
Bangles: Swarovski
Ring: H&M
Watch: Guess

There are more simple pearl options, elaborate floral and lace, and beaded bid collar necklaces. Basically anything with multi-strands that is fitted close to your neck (but not a choker) can be called a collar necklace. Here are some lovelies I’ve seen:

I love these statement necklaces over a crew neck shirt, tucked in to the collar of a button down or placed over a turtleneck. They dress up any casual outfit and add a touch of sophistication without making anything look too dressy. I have seen some great options at Forever 21, but I think this is something you may have to hunt for to find the perfect one at a great price. They are very in right now – and trendy means pricey in most retail venues. Vintage is an option with these pieces as well, so don’t count out hitting up your local thrift store jewelry cases to find something. With this trend has come embellished detached collars – which I also love. Below are some examples, and some DIY options:

1. Coil Collar Necklace $29
2. Textured Plaque Collar Necklace $55
3. Rufous Collar Necklace $26
4. Clear Crystal/Hematite Collar Necklace $78
5. Crystal Snake Collar Necklace $70
6. "Love Sparkle" Glitter Collar $75
7. Enamel Collar Necklace $55
8. Chain Mail Pan Collar Necklace $16

1. Bead and Pearl Collar Necklace – $30
2. ASOS Gold Sequin Collar – $25
3. Spike End Collar Necklace – $40
4. Black Jewel Collar – $32

What do you think about the trend? Do you own a collar necklace?

XoXo, Dayhanna
