Rock chic in Tangerine

When Pantone announced in 2012 that the bold shade of orange, tangerine was the color of the year, we were delighted and intrigued. 

However, the fact that designers chose to revive this tone for the SS 2013 after such a short period of time was unexpected and yet typically for the restless world of fashion.  

Was it because mint and neon quite stole the show in the late spring and summer last year, or that there were so many other design ideas which would only look perfect with this color? Either way, it’s great news!

Tangerine appeared in so many collections, whether it was about the little accents or the main pieces. Kenzo used it for their ecletic prints for sweaters and clutches, while Jil Sander went for impressive skirts. The fantastic duo from Proenza Schouler used this shade of orange as a bold canvas for their black dotted pattern.

We are certain of one thing: tangerine is bold and bright shade of orange, which is totally trending right now! We are going to find lots of alternatives and designs in the high street shops very soon, and there are some items which are particularly worth investing in:

1. Dress - Oh, how we love to party! You will steal the show if you choose to wear an orange dress, with a clean cut at gatherings this summer. And once you have decided it’s worth spending a great amount of your savings on this perfect party dress, you might want to consider to buy it with an unique print.

2. Clutch - Cluthes have been a major thing these past few years, you don’t need to attend a party in order to wear one nowadays.  An oversizzed clutch would make your casual looks pop, but would also be the final touch to a simple party outfit ( think the little black dress!)

3. Flats – As white, purple and yellow are some of key colors for this spring, it would be great to buy some shoes in a tangerine shade and wear them combined with one of the tones mentioned. You can even go for a colorblock, how fun!

4. Statement necklace – Or any type of jewellery you fancy because regardless of the season, you will always need special accessories to match you outfits.

5. Lipstick – Holly Fulton , Missoni and Aquilano Rimondi are just some of the brands who went for this fabulous color for the beauty section. Don’t be afraid to go for bright lips this spring.
