3 ways to wear pastel jeans

They’re hot then they’re cold. They’re yes then they’re no. They’re in then they’re out. Colored denim has come and gone almost as many times as Katy Perry’s lovers, but they’ve returned this season with a special flair worth your attention.

While last season’s colored denim screamed, “Listen up!,” we can’t wait to get our hands on pastel jeans, which are more subtle statement makers. Soft pinks, muted mints, mellow yellows and pale blues – all the colors of the pastel-colored rainbow are fine by us! If you’re as eager  as I am to give these new school jeans a go but aren’t quite sure how, I’ve researched and conducted some experiments in my lab (a.k.a. my closet). The results were astonishing. Read on to find out how to wear pastel jeans in three different ways.

Love the golden sparkles on my blazer!!!!

Always accesssorize!!!

Love this top, it's so sexy!!! and extraordinary ...

Outfit 1:

1. With other pastels. Get in touch with your girly side and pair your pastels for an outfit so spring-ready the sun can’t help but shine. Contrary to what you may think, paired pastels can be completely appropriate for adults, and one simple trick will keep you on the side of cutting edge instead of Easter egg. Break up your soft hued outfit with just one or two items in a bold color, ideally in the same color family as one of your pastel pieces. Here, I took the pink color of my jeans up 10 notches and added a burgundy belt and clutch to this outfit. It remains playful but still looks put together because the deep hues provide just a tiny bit of seriousness.

Outfit 2:
2. With Neutrals. For a more polished look, play your pastel jeans safe by wearing them with neutral pieces in classic, clean shapes. A cream blazer, feminine top and structured black bag with these minty jeans make for an outfit that says, “Yes, I am a power woman…but I’m also stylish and a little flirty.” In a no-nonsense kind of way, of course.

Outfit 3:

3. Monochrome. The monochrome look is big this season and we couldn’t be more pleased. White on white is all good and dandy, but why not pastel yellow on pastel yellow? The soft tone inherent in any pastel will keep the outfit from looking overwhelming, and you can wear your pastel pieces with neutral accessories  to keep the focus on the clothing and soften the look more. If you’re hesitant about putting two pastel pieces side by side, try layering your top over a white button-up or under a neutral jacket to further tone down the look.
So are you eager to try it or do you still have cold feet?
