Black and white the new sensation for spring 2013

As we know, color forecasting company Pantone named Tangerine Tango the color of the year for 2012, and was the biggest hit since Periwinkle blue. Although Emerald green is the color of the year for 2013, we do not see this trend as a focus on runways, media, and more importantly retail stores for consumers.

But the colors that are saturating the fashion world are black and white! For Spring isn’t there supposed to be fun, bright, and luscious colors?! True, we see lightened hues in colors displayed on Pantone’s Trend report in Linen, African Violet, Dusk Blue. (And Grayed Jade obviously originating from Emerald green and the new Nectarine from Tangerine Tango). But black and white is alluring a sense of a high fashion and classic style.

Now we know the true colors for the season are black and white, next is to identify the patterns to buy. Again yes, its Spring so florals, polka dots, and lace prints are always the craze to hype the feminine Spring season, but this year for 2013, the big trend is the opposite! Sharp, structured, harsh geometric prints are taking center stage. A new era of feminine stance is the high-powered and strong woman, so this print exerts that exact confidence it takes to be a fashion leader. Here is a 60s mod style from Louis Vuitton Spring 2013 collection.

Ultimately, decorating your body is the best way to show off your self expression, and your individual style defines your take on fashion. The information preceding is important to know for the Spring season, but in the end, the most valuable information you must understand when it comes to fashion, is how to dress your body.

The key word is BALANCE, no matter what your body shape is, you can always alter the styling of a garment to create that ideal hourglass look. For example, if you are larger on top, add more focus and larger prints on the bottom. And vice versa, If you are larger on bottom and smaller on top, add more volume and larger prints on the top portion of your body.

This photo is from Balmain Spring 2013 RTW runway, and exhibits the perfect styling technique by adding a white belt to show a definite waistline. Also, by the construction of widened shoulders, a thin waistline, and a slightly flared skirt, this particular silhouette is the perfect garment for this models rectangular body type.

With these Spring 2013 Trends and understanding how to balance your body, you will shine with confidence when you are dressed to perfection! Here are some more examples of these trends on the Spring 2013 runway.
